Initially, we encouraged posting weekly threads on the Forum for these reasons:
- Inform the community about upcoming meetings and invite participation.
- Facilitate ideas or discussions in the meeting thread.
- Enhance transparency within the community.
However, this practice has proven ineffective:
- Low engagement: No one actively uses or views these threads.
- Limited relevance: Working group meetings involve fixed members, with no new participants joining.
It also creates additional issues:
- Clutters the Forum: Important topics become hard to find due to the overwhelming number of weekly threads.
- Category misuse: Some threads are miscategorized, making the Forum structure look inconsistent.
- Increases workload: PMs must create weekly threads, which often boil down to copy-pasting repetitive content.
Proposal
To address these issues, I suggest the following:
- Stop posting weekly threads for non-community calls.
- Keep only the Community Call thread, such as LXDAO Community Call #136.
- If anyone wants to share details of their meeting for the upcoming week, they can reply directly to the Community Call thread.
- Change back to the previous forum layout and cleanup Weekly threads and unused categories.
This will streamline operations, reduce clutter, and ensure the Forum remains clean and functional.
