Forum Post: SteadyForce Working Group S5 Review and S6 Plans

TL;DR

To manage the uncertainties of a flexible DAO, LXDAO proposes a SteadyForce Working Group for managing full-time and part-time workers who will contribute to routine tasks, especially in the R&D domain. The group will provide a stipend for basic living costs to selected LXDAO builders who have contributed significantly to the LXDAO.

Description

Here are some updates from the previous proposal: Snapshot

How to determine eligibility for SteadyForce members?

After careful deliberation, we have established a set of criteria to determine eligibility for membership in SteadyForce:

  • Priority to Full-time Employees: Full-time builders will be given priority as they can contribute more energy and time to the projects.
  • Emphasis on Diversity: If there is only one position available and the candidates include a Project Manager (PM) and a Developer (Dev), and we already have two Developers, we will select the PM to ensure a diverse skill set within the team.
  • Preference for Project Managers: We currently have a shortage of individuals who can initiate and manage entire projects, so we will prioritize the recruitment of Project Managers.
  • Subsidy Coverage: We anticipate that, on average, SteadyForce will cover 33% of the subsidy. We will base our budget calculations on this assumption.
  • Selection Process: If there is only one position available but multiple applicants, the Expert Working Group will vote to select the candidate based on their contribution and previous work. Interviews may be conducted if necessary.
  • Subsidy Level Disputes: If there are questions regarding the level of subsidy, the Expert Working Group will vote to make a decision based on the candidate’s contribution and previous work.
  • Subsidy Limits: Members who receive more than 33% of the total subsidy for the season will receive a warning and will be less likely to be selected in the future. Members who receive more than 50% of the total subsidy will be removed from SteadyForce in the future. Unless there are special circumstances, it is also possible to record some work that cannot be categorized into projects or working groups (Uncategorized contribution records).

It is important to note that these rules are designed to ensure fairness, optimize team dynamics, and maximize productivity. We believe that by adhering to these guidelines, we can build a stronger and more effective SteadyForce team.

How to get level up?

The expert working group is drafting a process for level-up and definition of each level.

Expansion of SteadyForce Member Scope

Starting this season, in an effort to enhance stability, the daily standup of SteadyForce will incorporate committed builders from the working group who contribute over 20 hours per week (Part-time). They have the option to attend 2-3 times per week. However, only selected builders will be eligible for the subsidy.

Project managers, during the active development phases, can also opt to participate in the daily standup if they wish, but it is not mandatory.

Definition of Exptected Subsidy

The expected subsidy represents the minimum amount you can anticipate receiving monthly from the LXDAO community in recognition of your consistent contributions. It’s important to note that this is not a salary. Instead, it’s meant to cover your basic living expenses. While this sets a baseline, you have the opportunity to earn more based on the volume and quality of your work.

For reference, we’ve derived recommended subsidy amounts for full-time roles from Web3 role salary research and our treasury’s real-world data:

  • Product Manager
    • Senior: 5000
    • Middle: 3000
    • Junior: 1500
  • Developer or Project Manager
    • Senior: 5000
    • Middle: 3000
    • Junior: 1500
  • Operator:
    • Senior: 4000
    • Middle: 2400
    • Junior: 1200
  • Designer:
    • Senior: 4500
    • Middle: 2700
    • Junior: 1350

If your subsidy expectations differ from the above recommendations, please provide a detailed rationale. Final decisions will be based on factors like available budgets, individual experience, past contributions, and more.

Subsidy increase rules

A subsidy increase is warranted for keeping those buidlers stable. However, we would recommend that it be controlled and kept within a range of 0% to 10% per season. In many companies, annual reviews typically result in salary adjustments ranging from 5% to 30%. Therefore, a seasonal adjustment of 0% to 10% seems reasonable and aligns with broader industry practices.

S6 Team Settings

From the applications on the forum, we carefully selected the following members to join SteadyForce in S6:

  • Bruce Xu, Full-time, Senior Dev + PM, 5500 LXPU per month
  • Wang Teng, Part-time, Senior Designer, 2250 LXPU per month
  • Kahn, Full-time, Senior Dev + PM, 5500 LXPU per month
  • 0xhardman, Part-time, Intermediate Dev + PM, 1650 LXPU per month
  • wwei, Full-time, Intermediate Dev, 3000 LXPU per month
  • Mike, Part-time, Senior PM, 2500 LXPU per month
  • Sanzhi, Full-time, Intermediate Operator, 3400 LXPU per month

The budget per month is 8000 LXPU per month.
